Run...Make Friends...Change the World
Hey Gang! Running is great but running and eating great food at the finish with several hundred of your closest running friends is life-changing. At least we think so.
Run 95% on trails, the Georgia Jewel is a gorgeous experience. And tough. But mostly, awesome. Single-track with a few "intense" climbs and one epic rock garden make for an experience that will leave you dreaming about unicorns for months. The race is supported by amazing volunteers who'll welcome you into each aid station with hugs and kick you back on the trail if you stay too long. The views are worth the crazy elevation and we hope you'll leave believing in your bad-assery more deeply while making some fantastic friends along the way.
And we also run on purpose. Each participant is encouraged to pick a cause close to their heart and run the race to raise money for their charity. We'll promote the cause and rally the community around all the amazing things our participants are running for.
So think real hard. What breaks your heart? What makes you excited? Choose that and run like a banshee to help make a difference. Whether it's a corn grinder for a Haitian village, clean water for Flint, Michigan or cancer research, pick something you're passionate about and run on purpose (which is kinda cheesy sounding but we're going with it.)
The 17, 35 and 50 milers are point to point runs while the 100 is a big'ole out and back (which is great for your crew...since we all know those people are critical to any successful 100.) We've got shuttles to bus the point to point runners to their starting lines (which means you need to sign-up for it...there's zero parking at our starting lines.)
Please come run our race. We're ultra runners and deeply adore our running family. This is our way of giving-back to a community who has for real made us better people.
Hope to see you in September!
Franklin, Jenny, Luci and Levi Baker
* Our cut-off times are 6hrs for the 17miles, 12hrs for 35miles, 17hrs for the 50miles and 32hrs for 100.
** We added a 17 miler for 2017. All the pretty with a little of the pain.
*** We'll have another fun training run in August. Totally free, totally casual, totally amazing.
**** For 2017 we're trying, super-duper-hard, to become a Western States Qualifier. It's gonna be the come-back from never was there of the century. To do this we need 120 FINISHERS. Yeah, see, it'll be a Christmas miracle. WS qualifying races are determined by size. Who knows if this is possible. 2016 gave us 6 finishers. Maybe 2017 will give us 120 finishers. It's CRAZY and highly IMPROBABLE but why the heck not try!!!
