About This Event
Part of the HARRA Fall Race Series and Chevron Houston Marathon Warm-up Series...30th Annual Fort Bend KIA 30K RUN on Sunday Morning, Dec 10. An epic race! Practice/maintain your desired race pace for Chevron Houston Marathon, which is five weeks later. Average low in early December in Sugar Land is 47 degrees, with an average high of only 67. Certified, triple-loop beautiful, upscale Sweetwater neighborhood course, with clearly-marked kilometer and mile markers. Timed splits for first and second 15k afterwards. Enjoy a free beer afterwards from Jupiter on the plaza, across from the finish line. Flat, fast PR-level course. Fort Bend KIA 30K RUN benefits 15 great race causes. Water stations with Gatorade (with LOTS of loud volunteers) every two miles, with 3 portacans nearby. SLFD EMT personnel and HARRA AED volunteers on bikes provide plenty of medical protection. Bib-tag timing on bib with a 4:10 Time Limit, a 13:25 pace. Must be 14 years old or older to participate. Youths ages 14-19 are half-price! Almost 200 enthusiastic volunteers make our race great! Sorry, NO RACEDAY packet pickup, unless $12 fee, which is donation to Snowdrop, has been paid. Sorry, NO REFUNDS, NO DEFERRALS, AND NO TRANSFERS to another runner, for any reason. Dangerous weather could force cancellation of this event, without refunds or re-scheduling. Headphones are strongly NOT recommended for SAFETY reasons due to single lane of runners with adjacent lane of car traffic on a triple-loop course, with faster runners lapping from behind on the outside. Results at www.eztoregister.com same day and on large scrolling screen at finish. FIELD LIMIT is 1,100 for runners' safety. Thanks.
Fort Bend KIA 30K RUN is a three-loop course along Palm Royale Blvd in Sweetwater. Fastest runners in the race run 5:20 pace or below. Lapping from behind will occur on all runners at 7:20 pace and above, which is the VAST majority. Please stay towards the inside median, no more than two runners side-by-side. Headphones are strongly NOT recommended due to this situation. "Blocking" is a possible DQ. Thank you for your consideration.
