Come challenge yourself with the Lake Area's only ULTRA marathon nestled in the heart of Southwest Louisiana at the beautiful Sam Houston Jones State Park. Consisting mostly of single track, root rich dirt trails, this race is sure to challenge even the most seasoned runners.

The adventure is scheduled to take place Saturday, October 21, 2017. We will begin with a mandatory pre-race meeting at the main pavillion at 7:45 and the race will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m.

WE ARE LIMITED TO 100 RUNNERS MAXIMUM ON THE TRAILS, SO REGISTER EARLY

For those of you who are not up for the 50k but would still like to participate, we do have a 25k option for you slackers. Also for 2017, we are bringing you a 10k option which is perfect for first time trail runners or those seeking to blaze through the woods and hurry back to the grub.

Along with the actual trail race, we will be handing out a " Danimal 10k trail champions" award to the Crossfit or OCR (obstacle course racing) Gym that has the fastest average from the top 3 runners from that gym. If a gym wishes to participate, then those affiliated with that gym can note their gym name on the registration page.

For example: If Gym XYZ has 5 runners enter the 10k. We will take the 3 fastest times out of those five and get the average for that gym. The gym with the fastest average wins. Any gym may enter as many people as they want but they must have atleast three people enter .

We hope to promote HEALTHY competition.

Of course we welcome your friends and family to hang out, grab something to eat and bask in the deerflies.

The cutoff times for the all three races is 8 hours. Everyone must be accounted for by 4:00 p.m. sharp.

You are responsible for your own entry fee into the park. The State has informed me that they will be collecting $3.00 PER PERSON!!!

We will be grilling starting close to noon so even if you aren't running, come grab a bite to eat and encourage those who chose to inflict this misery upon themselves.

The main pavillion will serve as the main aid station and we will have other unmanned aid stations with water and Tailwind at roughly the 3.5 mile mark and the 7 mile mark . We will have burgers at the pavillion, fruit, cookies, and whatever baked delights Jeanne Claire decides to bring. We will try to cover what most ultra runners like but...if your nutrition consist of grandma's special organic cookie, I suggest you invite grandma.
Hydration will consist of water, Tailwind and sodas if you like. Adult beverages will be available to runners and spectators.

The trails will not be closed for the race, it is open to the public so watch out for hikers, cyclists and bird watchers. Earphones are allowed, just keep your wits about you.

The 50k will be four loops and the 25k will be 2 loops.

One loop is as follows: Starting from the pavillion head east on the park road, turn right onto the entrance of the orange trail, follow the orange trail until it meets the park road again. Turn left on the park road for about 100 feet then turn right onto the entrance of the red trail. Follow the red trail until it meets up with the park road, then turn right, running along the park road back to the entrance of the park where you will see the purple trail on the left. Follow the purple trail until it intersects with the blue trail. Take the HIGH SIDE of the blue trail until it meets the fire lane. Cross the fire lane and enter the blue trail and follow for approximately three miles until it intersects with the yellow trail. Turn right on the yellow trail and follow to the trail head. At the trail head stay on the road turning right, pass the boat launch, heading back to the pavillion.

That's one loop!

The 10k route will be posted soon. I will include a detailed map as well.

Course Markings: Do not deviate from the main trail! At the intersections or other crossings follow the unmistakeable signage ( We will have ample signage for you. If you get lost, relax, someone will find you. )
